I began my career in education teaching English as a Second Language to students in the beautiful red desert of Southern Utah. Eventually, I moved into a district position to develop and implement an ESL program for Washington County School District. This brought many changes to the district and led me to the opportunity to receive training as a Reading Recovery Teacher, First Grade and Kindergarten Teacher. In 2008, we moved our little family of five (Matt my hubby, Josh-25, Chloe-19, and Bella-17) to beautiful green Idaho near the Salmon, Clearwater, and South Fork Rivers. Here, I have had the lucky opportunity to serve in many different capacities. I have taught multiage classrooms, K-12 academic interventions, coordinated Title 1 programs, learned the daunting task to be a literacy coach/instructional developer, and am now excited to push my boundaries and venture deeper into technology teaching with IDLA as a 4-5 ELA educator. In 2017, I achieved my Masters degree in Educational Leadership.
My favorites to teach are drawing, writing and project-based learning through inquiry and problem solving. I spend most of my time outside in my gardens or at the river which makes Nelly, my Golden Retriever, very happy. Indoors I love to play cards and laugh with my kids, read good fantasy books, create art journals and scrapbooks, draw on my ipad and paint portraits.
