Do I need a mobile device to do my class?
No. The Blackboard Mobile app and everything mobile is completely optional. You only need a desktop computer or laptop with Internet to successfully complete your course.
What can I do with Blackboard Mobile?
Students can access text announcements, post and reply to discussion boards, and view grades through the Blackboard Mobile App. This app only works for courses that are using the Blackboard Learning Management System (not Brain Honey).
Does Blackboard Mobile work on all mobile devices?
No. Currently only the iPhone, iPad, iTouch, Android, and Blackberry mobile devices are supported.
Does the Blackboard app cost money?
If you have a wi-fi enabled mobile device (iTouch or iPad) and wifi internet you can use the app. If you have a cell phone (iPhone,Android, Blackberry), you will need to pay for the data package for the internet in order for Blackboard Mobile to work. However, the app itself is free. Ask parental permission prior to downloading or using the app.
How do I install the app on my mobile device?
If you have parental permission, you can download it from the appstore (idevice) or from the Google play store (android device). Search IDLA.
I can't get something to work on Blackboard Mobile, what should I do?
Much of the content in Blackboard is not currently accessible on mobile devices. If you have trouble accessing it, please use a desktop or laptop computer.
Can I do everything that I can do on a desktop or laptop on a mobile device?
No, currently the app is limited to discussion boards and checking grades.
I see a "Mobile Practice" in my course. What does that mean?
Several courses have mobile practices. These will work on a desktop computer, laptop, or a mobile device through the Blackboard Mobile app. These practices work on the iTouch, iPad, iPhone, Android, and the Blackberry with Bolt browser. They do not work on all mobile devices. If the practice does not work on your mobile device, please use your desktop computer or laptop to practice.
I see a "QR code" in my course. What does that mean?

A QR Code is a square graphic that looks similar to a barcode. If you have a smartphone that reads QR codes, you can take a picture of it and it will automatically bring you to the practice. The intention is that students can be on a desktop computer, snap a picture of the QR code on their screen using a mobile device, and then immediately have the practice on their device for practice. QR code readers are free and available on the iPhone 3g, 4g, and Android phones. For more information on QR Codes & Readers, click here.
Will there be more OPTIONAL mobile learning components in my IDLA courses in the future?
Yes.
I don't have a mobile device with the internet. Am I going to have a problem?
No. You can access your course, mobile practices, and everything else using any desktop or laptop computer with Internet access.
