Some downloads may be required in order to access certain technology applications. Although we typically try to minimize the need for downloads, in order to access certain types of documents or files, a download may be necessary.
PDF Reader- Adobe Acrobat or Foxit Reader
Adobe Acrobat Reader and Foxit Reader are free programs that allows you to view and print Portable Document Format (PDF) files. PDF pages can't be manipulated and the original appearance and layout aren't subject to the whims of different browser versions. You'll be installing only the free "reader" software which is sufficient unless you intend to create documents in PDF format.
If you do not have Adobe Acrobat Reader installed on your computer, visit the Adobe Acrobat Reader Download Site at: http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/readstep2.html (25MB) OR Foxit Reader provides much of the functionality of Acrobat Reader, but in a much more efficient package. Visit the Foxit Reader Download Site at http://www.foxitsoftware.com/downloads/index.php.
Install this download if you don't have Microsoft PowerPoint. It allows you to view PowerPoint 95, 97, 2000, XP, and 2003 slides and slide shows. This download also enables you to print the slides, but you will not be able to make changes or edit presentations.
To download the PowerPoint viewer follow the link to the download site: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/en/default.aspx. Once there, scroll down to the middle of the page and find the "Download" button. Follow the directions for installation.
Flash Player 6
Flash is a bandwidth friendly and browser independent vector-graphic animation technology. Both Internet Explorer and Netscape Navigator utilize a specific plug-in made for that particular browser, allowing Flash animations to look the same on any platform. Flash is widely used to create interactive user-friendly features, from animated link buttons to mini-games.
Although you may not use this plug-in for an online course, it is becoming a necessary component when viewing Internet sites. Download Flash here: http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/
